Kawaii diapers are another pocket diaper option. They are a very affordable option with most being between 10-12 dollars. They have all the pros and cons of other pocket diapers. (See this post
Types of Cloth Diapers.) They come with a regular microfiber insert and a smaller doubler.
The two types of Kawaii's I have are the original Cross-Over Square top
diaper and the Snazzy
Minky. Months later I also have a few Good Night heavy wetters. They both are one size diapers that go from 8-36 pounds. I can tell you though that these fit bigger than my other diapers (Bumgenius and Rumparooz.) My son wasn't able to use them until over 10 pounds.

I like these diapers quite a bit, especially considering how much cheaper there are than similar diapers. The only two downfalls I can come up with is the sizing is bigger which isn't a downfall now, but was when he was in the 10-12 pound range. Also, most of these diapers only comes in snaps which isn't a big deal, but I do have a slight preference for velcro since changing Kai is awful. He is a kicker, thrasher, turner overer, hitter. You get the picture. Honestly though now that Kai can take off the velcro diapers, I reach for these more and more.
They have held up much better over two years of use than my BG 4.0 and RaR. Those have both had to have elastics in the legs replaced and my Kawaiis are all still going strong. Even the brightly colored ones have held their color well with no fading. For a cheaper diaper option, I can't recommend these enough.
And finally, here is a picture of Kai wearing the sports themed minky Kawaii.

I have a few covers, and I really like my Kawaii a lot. I'm a snaps girl myself, and I love that these are snappity snap covers. Also love it because it is big. You're right, I don't think it fit my baby until she was a couple of months old, but now that she's bigger, it fits great and I know she won't outgrow it before potty training starts. I've also got a Kawaii heavy duty night diaper in my stash, but have never tried it (never needed it yet.)
ReplyDeleteAfter I published that post, it hit me that I might or might not have a good night heavy wetter as well. I get a lot of freebie diapers from Kelly's Closet and I am never sure what Kawaii it is. Hehehe either way it works great as a daytime diaper. I am hoping that he won't outgrow his diapers before potty training, but I don't know. He isn't showing any interest in pottying. But he isn't even quite 23 pounds at 14 months, so he might make it.
DeleteI haven't tried these. I thought about picking some up though. I'll check them out, thanks!
ReplyDeleteYeah check out Kelly's Closet or Sweetbottoms Baby. They both carry them. I have links in my sidebar if you want to see all the cute designs. They are super cheap compared to most pockets and work really well. I am thinking about ordering him a new one (and timing it strategically for when my hubby is out of town lol so he doesn't realize I ordered a new diaper.) They just have cute new designs since the last time I looked at them.
Deletekudos to you for using cloth diapers!! Lovely to meet you I am a happy new follower from the Monday Mingle hop!! (getting a head start)
ReplyDeleteThanks for following. I was a head starter too since I have to work during the week and sometimes don't have time for blog hops.
DeleteI love my Kawaii! I bought them on super sale, I think I had to buy 24, but I got them for $5 a piece! I also got them all with velcro, which I love too. My little guy is a wiggler! I have about 7 snap diapers and 25 velcro ones now and I try to save the snaps for when he is older and can pull them off.
ReplyDeleteI liked the velcro when he was tiny, but now that he is bigger I much prefer snaps. He can get them off otherwise. But 5 bucks each is a great deal. I wish I had found that when I was getting started.
