Mr. Destructo will have been married four years come this September. The time sure has flown by though. We got married in my childhood Catholic church and had the reception in the local hall that evening. I wanted a fall wedding and lucky for me that year the leaves had already begun to change. It was a gorgeous day and a perfect temp. I think it was high 70's or low 80's so we weren't all having heat strokes in our dresses.
It took me forever to find my wedding dress. I kept waiting to have an "epiphany" and just know that was the perfect dress for me. But alas, I am not a girly girl at all and really don't care of dresses so I ended up going with the dress I just kept going back to. And I loved it (even though I lost a ton of weight due to stress and ended up having to wear two of those workout bands on my stomach to give me enough padding to be able to pull it off strapless.) Then the straps broke while I was dancing during the reception and the things to trustle/ bustle/gather whatever the heck it was called?? my dress up didn't hold. So I ended up walking around all night with one strap on and carrying my train.
But overall we had a blast. We ended up throwing the bouquet to the let's get ready to rumble song and my sister caught it. We also did a trick bouquet the first time that was like five little ones, then I threw the actual bouquet. When it came time for Mr. Destructo to toss the garter, lo and behold my sister's boyfriend caught it. They married a year and a half later. We danced to Cotton Eye Joe and that was a highlight of the night.
And now here are some pics from my special day.
Thank you so much for sharing!! That was such a great story. I have never been married but it sounds like you had a memorable day!!
ReplyDeleteIt was so much fun and I love looking at the pictures. But geez Louise was it a lot of stress beforehand.
DeleteYou look beautiful!n I live remembering special days like that.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I hope when I am old and gray that I still remember special memories and days like this.
DeleteSounds like a memorable wedding! That's too funny that your hubby wore his vest and tie without a shirt during the reception!
ReplyDeleteHe did that at our wedding and all his friends weddings and then my sisters wedding as well. It became a sort of tradition I guess. He was cracking me up that night.
DeleteBeautiful photos and memories. Love the colour of your bridesmaid dresses.
ReplyDeleteVisiting from the weekend blog hop.

Burnt orange. Or pink as the groomsmen called them. They were far from pink. My husband also referred to himself as the human tree when I picked the brown tuxes and really wanted a green top hat to be leaves. Eye roll.
DeleteI am checking your blog out right now.
Beautiful pics! Love the color of the bridesmaids dresses also. Found you via the hop and I'm now following. When you can, I'd love a visit at my little place: http://www.thedivvyspot.com. Thanks and have an awesome weekend!

ReplyDeleteNot quite my anniversary just yet. It is September 27th, but it is almost here. I can't believe it has been four years already. Time sure does fly by. Thanks, I loved the dress. I called it my snowflake dress because the gems were in a snowflake shape. Thanks for reading by the way!
