2) Getting to see Kai's excitement and joy over the Christmas lights, tree, presents, etc. I already got a very small taste of this last night when we drove back from the grocery store and one house on my road is already all decorated. He ooohhhhed so loudly and said it was pretty. This year is going to be quite fun with a baby big enough to get really excited. And I bet he can rip open presents this year. He could last year, but refused to.
3) Getting to watch Kai play with his Little Tikes Nativity set that a friend is getting him for Christmas. I really look forward to sharing the Christmas story with him even if he is still too young to fully understand the importance of the fact that Jesus was born to save us from our sins.
4) Possibly seeing the first snowfall of the year. Maybe. You never know in the south if you are going to see snow. We only got flurries a few times all last winter and never enough for Kai to really play in even though he was really too young for it anyway. But I look forward to getting some snow pictures this year.
5) Going to church Christmas morning all dressed up and hearing the Christmas story. It really took on new meaning to me as a mother. I can't imagine having to give birth in a stable and not have anything but rags for my baby. But I sure do wish I was as faith filled and strong as Mary to accept that she was going to give birth to God's son even though she had to be terrified.

6) Getting to see Destructo's excitement when he wakes up Christmas morning to his very own kitchen set. He loves the one at Grandma and Grandpa's house, so I imagine he will be equally excited to play with is very own. I have finally settled on the Wonderworld kitchen set. It is made of recycled rubber wood and is ecofriendly. I even found it for around 120. It isn't quite what I wanted, but is a lot more affordable. But if money was no consideration, I would totally buy this kitchen set.
7) Hot chocolate. I love hot chocolate.
8) It being the time of year where it is acceptable to wear fuzz ball hats. I have admitted before I have a bit of a hat addiction.
9) Getting to spend time with friends and family. Life is so busy you don't always get to see your friends and family as much as you would like. Christmas is a great time to catch up.
10) Time off work. Everyone loves a bit of a vacation and I usually take at least a week off.
Luke 2:9-12
And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.”

ReplyDeleteThose are some cute hats!!! It's hard to believe Christmas is coming up so soon. I love Christmas music too - not usually a fan of what they play in the shops, but I love pulling out the Christmas CDs of Bing Crosby & Frank Sinatra every year. Can't beat the classics :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Christmas time too...all the songs, colors, smells, and Dinosaur's true excitement.
ReplyDeleteI know. I can't wait. Kai is already loving his little nativity set and even figured out how to put the angel on top of the stable already.
DeleteYour picture of the dog running in the snow took me way back. I forgot how excited the dogs get in the snow, lol!
