Eco-Friendly Christmas Gifts for Young Toddlers

It looks like he needs more toys huh?

I try to get Kai ecofriendly, non toxic toys when I can.  I did have to settle for a not as ecofriendly kitchen set due to the fact that the ecofriendly ones are much more expensive and the fact that it will be smack dab in my living room so I wanted one that was flat on one side and not two sided.  It might have broken my heart a little bit, but I reasoned that at least this wasn't something he would be chewing on or putting in his mouth.  I went with this one for those that are dying of curiosity.

So here are a few of my favorite toys that are ecofriendly, non-toxic, most not made in China (unless otherwise specified) in case you are looking for Christmas gifts for the crazy toddlers in your life.  And yes I spend hours deciding what to get Kai based on where it is made, what it is made of, etc.  (Not that he doesn't have toys that are plastic and made in China, but I try to keep it to a minimum and honestly wooden toys have always been his favorites with a few exception so yay!)

Trucks, Trains, Planes

 These trucks are all made by the Green Toy company.  They are made in the US from recycled milk jugs and even their packaging is 100% recyclable.

 Plan toys is another awesome company.  Their products are made from rubberwood trees with plant based non-toxic paints.

  Haba toys.  This one is made of real wood and non toxic paints and produced in Germany. (Sidenote not all Haba toys are produced in Germany so make sure to check them over carefully.) Haba has very high quality toys and the few we own are awesome!  I wish I was rich and I would buy all his toys from Haba, Plan, Green Toys and a few other companies.

 Slightly cheaper version of these stackers is Melissa and Doug's version.

You can find great sales on these and they are more widely available in stores such as Kohls, Carters, or even Target at times.  They are made of wood and are high quality, but they are produced in China.  I emailed the company and they sent me a copy of their quality standards.  They send independent inspectors from the US into the company regularly to check quality and do seem to be dedicated to high quality.   I own a lot of these toys since my family and friends know I like the wooden toys and these are widely available.  I prefer others, but like I said these seem to be pretty good toys.

 Imaginarium.  I don't know much about this brand other than it is wood.  But it is sold at Toys R Us if you are looking for something that you can get in stores.  I have a music table by this company and really liked it and it held up well, but it is made in China.

Tool Sets

Both sets are by Green Toys.  What little girl doesn't need her very own pink tool set?

Wooden block sets

 Sensory blocks by Wonderworld.  I am not positive all Wonderworld products are made in Thailand, but these two are.  They are made from rubberwood with non toxic paints.  The set has three blocks that you can look through that are colored, two that make noise, and four that have different textures.  Destructo really likes this set as he got it last Christmas along with the next one.

 This set was great last Christmas when Destructo was only 8 months old.  They made noise and he caught on to this really quickly.  Only the colored ones make noise just FYI.  But he still loves these blocks a year later and is now really into stacking them.  These are also by Wonderworld.


 Destructo is just now really starting to like this builidng set by Haba.  It has a base that you put the cylinder blocks into and then you can stack the other blocks on them  since they have a hole in the middle.  Just for the record, Haba has a ton of really neat block sets.

Here is a set of water blocks by Plan toy that I really want for Destructo.  They are just so cool looking and can teach all the properties of water.

Kitchen Sets
As I said, I ended up settling for a cheaper kitchen set.  But if money had been no option, I would have went with either the Camden Rose kitchen set made with cherry wood

or the Plan toys set of three.
Oh trust me if I hit the lottery, my cheap wooden kitchen it out the door and one of those two is coming in.

And on the kitchen set idea, I will mention that a number of the Little Tikes plastic kitchen sets are actually produced in the US.  If you look at their website, you can see a link on the bottom that says toys made in the US if this is what you are interested in.  I just wanted a wooden set.

Okay those are just some different ideas.  A few others are wooden puzzles, books, and art supplies.  If I have time later, I might edit this and add a few of my store bought art supplies for toddlers and eventually later this week I plan on doing a book post.  Hope this helps someone if you don't have any ideas for the toddlers in your life.
